Resilient

Nov 22, 2011 by

Last week I attended a women’s group event where I was asked to make a nametag.  Under our first names we were told to write one adjective to describes ourselves. It took me a minute or so to come up with something besides my usual default,  “energetic”, (as it hasn’t been all that true lately).. I decided that Resilient would be my word. Resiliency is a quiet quality, but I’ve found there are many times when it trumps most others. I believe resilience and happiness are closely intertwined, so by describing myself as resilient, I  envision myself as resilient; and my experience has been that what I sincerely envision is often what comes to be.

Resilience is me getting up after a bad day and getting ‘back at it’ (even if it takes a few extra cups of coffee!). Meeting and working with so many other entrepreneurs and small business owners during my journey with MidChix & MadHens, and more recently, Seed 2 Sky, I’ve realized that resilient is probably a pretty good descriptor for many of them, as well. To be successful, one must embrace failure. Each time we get back up, we are smarter, stronger, and a step closer to success. We learn from our own mistakes,  from the shared experiences of others’ mistakes, and consequently, from the corrections that follow.

That’s why I’m so eager to share with you an event for small business owners that I’m participating in next week! Here I’ll be sharing the story of my first escapades on Facebook (including the public mortification of my then-18 year-old daughter), and how I got back up to try again…along with the many tricks I’ve learned for truly utilizing social media platforms to grow your business.

The Victory Telesummit, which takes place December 1-12th is designed to provide invaluable planning tools for small business owners to help jumpstart 2012. Each day (except Sundays) will feature 90 minutes with a speaker who will help you focus on everything from writing, to finances, to sales, to marketing on a shoestring!  My presentation on December 8th will give you a simple way to think about social media and a guide to using these platforms to cultivate more clients, customers, and revenue.

There’s brief video loaded with some of the content from my team of fellow speakers  that will give you a sneak peek at what next week has in store.

Here’s the link!

Starting tomorrow you’ll be able to sign up for this event…and I’ll send you an early reminder before you head out to the market, the airport, or the open road for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Hope you will join me and this group of inspirational women who are passionate about helping small business owners succeed.
