Listen To Your Gut
Maybe if I’d listened to that little voice I’d be drinking a nice cup of black coffee right about now. But nope, I’d shaken off that feeling that I should double check that the spout was accurately aimed over the filter before trudging back up to the shower. That’s how bad my coffee thing is. I need to get it brewing before I even brush my teeth…and no, I don’t rely on the auto feature, because too many times I’ve programmed it for 5:30 p.m.!
It’s not always easy to listen to your gut. There are so many things we are supposed to worry about, that it’s easy to become paranoid or obsessive-compulsive. Like the times when I’ve driven back around the block to make sure that I closed the garage door. Or ran back up to the laundry room to see that the front-loading washer door was tightly shut. But it’s when a sense, rather than a thought comes to us, that we should sit up and take notice. When an unsolicited feeling arrives in our gut that urges us to beware.
I’m thinking it’s time to start flexing my intuition muscle on a more regular basis… just like I’m consciously working my triceps every Tuesday and Thursday. Not to prevent another coffee mishap, but to make the very best decisions every day – ones that are informed not just by my brain or heart, but by their equal partner (who is tired of being the ugly stepsister!), my good old gut. How ’bout you, if you really listened to that little voice inside, what would change?
Sweet October to you, filled with colors and crisp evenings, and hopefully a slice of apple pie…
In the spirit of listening to your gut, I urge you to consider this upcoming opportunity with Transitions Global:
Transitions Global is offering the opportunity to come to Cambodia and be a part of our 2012 Engagement Trip. This is an opportunity to come to Cambodia and learn more about human trafficking, the work being done in Southeast Asia to combat trafficking, and to learn more about Transitions model of restoring the lives of survivors.
